Cambridge Turbos maintains top spot in final Elite Eight rankings

Ottawa, Ontario – March 5, 2015 – Regular season play has concluded in the National Ringette League (NRL) and the Cambridge Turbos round out the season in the top spot in the final Elite Eight rankings. The Turbos, along with Montreal Mission, have secured a bye to the NRL championship and will meet the top two teams from the Western Conference, Edmonton WAM! and Calgary RATH.

The last four spots at the championship will be decided this weekend when eight teams from the Eastern Conference battle it out during playoffs - Ottawa Ice will host Gatineau Fusion, Gloucester Devils will host Atlantic Attack, Richmond Hill Lightning will host Le Royal de Bourassa and Waterloo Wildfire will host Lac St. Louis Adrenaline. Playoffs will consist of a best two out of three series with the winner advancing to the championship that will be held in Wood Buffalo, AB from March 29 to April 4, 2015.

With the exception of Montreal Mission moving up two spots from last month and Waterloo Wildfire rejoining the Elite Eight, there is minimal movement in this month’s rankings. Cambridge Turbos won three and posted their first two losses in regulation time, while Ottawa Ice won both their games this past month. WAM! finished their season in early February and haven’t played any games this past month. All three teams maintained their rankings from last month.

Montreal Mission won five games and dropped two this past month, moving them up two spots to fourth place. Richmond Hill Lightning had an impressive month, winning six and losing one and they move down one spot to fifth. Gloucester Devils split their two games this month and move down one spot to sixth. Calgary RATH won three and lost one game this past month, securing their spot at the NRL championship and maintaining their seventh place ranking. Waterloo Wildfire re-enter the Elite Eight in last spot after winning five out of seven games played this past month. Previously ranked Le Royal de Bourassa fall out of the rankings this month.
